Instructional Video

Our video team works with instructors to produce high-quality explanations, demonstrations, and stories that are crucial for the student learning experience. These services include:

Micro-Lessons: Studio recordings of instructors explaining or demonstrating towards learning objectives. A typical micro-lesson is filmed with clients in one or two sessions in our on-campus studio space. Available options include a studio Lightboard, green screen, and on-location filming

Micro-Lessons with Animations Studio recordings of instructors explaining or demonstrating towards learning objectives. Custom animations illustrate step-by-step processes or dynamic interactions, making abstract concepts more tangible.

Slide Deck Optimization

We help revise slide decks for effective teaching and learning. We utilize principles of active learning and multimedia learning. Our research-informed approach optimizes:

• Layout,
• Typography,
• Information hierarchy
• Clarity,
• Consistency,

Visual impact, using appropriate colors, fonts, and layouts.

Instructional Graphics & Animations

The Media Production Team can partner with you to complete a range of digital visuals that enhance learning. These include:

• Data Representation: Visual aids such as charts, graphs, diagrams, and infographics to effectively communicate complex information and concepts.
• Images: Photos, illustrations, and graphics to represent complex ideas, processes, or systems.
• Animations: Moving graphics to dynamically illustrate complex relationships, ideas, theories, processes, or systems. When aligned with learning objectives effectively, animations can enhance comprehension and retention among students.

Media Production Support for Instructional Projects

Do you have an upcoming project in need of media production? The Studio offers part-time support for short-term and long-term projects! We can partner with you to support your project weekly over a timeframe ranging from 3 to 12 months. A member of the media production team will collaborate for an average of 10 to 15 hours per week.

Closed Captioning

Faculty can request closed caption services for courses that are being converted to blended or online formats. Intro videos of 3-5 minutes are closed captioned at no cost to the faculty unit; longer videos require requestor’s departmental approval and payment. To request closed captioning, please contact us and we will schedule a meeting to discuss your course needs.

Video Production

Faculty can request recording and editing services for courses that are being converted to blended or online formats. Intro videos of 3-5 minutes as well as more in-depth videos can be produced, edited and captioned. Elements can include graphics, animations and Light Board content, etc. The requester’s departmental approval and a signed Statement of Work will be required. And as part of the video production service, an Instructional Designer can meet with you to help you develop a storyboard for your videos.
