Media Production and Conversion

The Academic Multimedia Lab located on the IDEA Commons area on the first floor of the Daley Library provides assistance in multimedia production, including general consultations about multimedia use for instruction, graphic design, media conversion, closed captioning, video production, and support for the use of multimedia software installed in the media lab computers.

The multimedia production services provided by IDMPS, including media conversion, are not drop-off services. The technology consultants in the media lab will show you how to use the equipment and the software to digitize or transcode your media.

We recommend you to schedule a consultation to discuss your project with a multimedia specialist before visiting the Academic Multimedia Lab to work on your project.

Closed Captioning

Faculty can request closed caption services for courses that are being converted to blended or online formats. Intro videos of 3-5 minutes are closed captioned at no cost to the faculty unit; longer videos require requestor’s departmental approval and payment.

To request closed captioning, you need to schedule a consultation to discuss your project with a multimedia specialist.

Video Production

Faculty can request recording and editing services for courses that are being converted to blended or online formats. Intro videos of 3-5 minutes are recorded and edited at no cost to the faculty unit; more in-depth videos require requestor’s departmental approval and payment.

As part of the video production service, technology consultants can meet with you to develop a storyboard for your videos.
